Travel Insurance Plans for
U.S. Citizens and Residents

Travel Medical Insurance

Many people are unaware that the Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid Programs may not provide coverage for hospital or medical expenses incurred outside the United States.

There are a few exceptions. For example: Medicare may pay if you're in the U.S. when a medical emergency occurs, and the foreign hospital is closer than the nearest U.S. hospital that can treat your medical condition. (Please visit medicare.gov for full details.)

For travelers who are injured or who become seriously ill overseas, obtaining medical treatment and hospital care can be very costly and difficult.

Travel Insurance Services has several travel insurance plans that feature coverage for emergency medical expenses, emergency medical evaucation, and more! Before leaving the United States (even when going to Canada or Mexico), consider one of the travel insurance options shown below.

Does Medicare cover international travel?
According to medicare.gov, Medicare usually does not cover health care while you’re traveling outside the U.S. There are some exceptions.
Additionally, Medicare drug plans don't cover prescription drugs you buy outside the U.S.
